At the start of the film Juno, which generally has a depressing story line, there is upbeat folk music which is completely ironic. The soundtrack is jolly and completely in contrast with the storyline of the film. Given the subject matter, this creates a comedy effect which sets the film up well to include dark comedy. Normally this type of music would be used during a comedy sketch because it would lighten the mood.
