How would I address/attract my audience?

Image result for music

At the beginning of our film we tried to relate to teenagers with the character being a normal schoolboy. This is to incise the audience into the film straight away, along with the use of editing. The main source of media which was used during the film was the sound effects, which is because it can easily create a tense atmosphere within the scene which is of the utmost importance within the horror genre.

When we had completed our project we uploaded it to YouTube in order to receive feedback from an audience.

Who would be the audience for my media product?

As we started filming for our product we analysed that for a horror/ thriller genre of film we would be appealing to mostly to teenagers and people in their twenties so we approached filming with the mind-set that our film would be aimed for that age group.

Before we started filming we had to research what kind of films appealed to that age group and how it appealed to them. We noticed that horror films had three focusses; the start, the middle and the twist. We came to a conclusion that for our audience to be hooked the beginning had to be nerve racking and to keep them interest the twist had to be unexpected. Also because we are of similar age to our target audience we were able to come up with a storyline which we all liked and therefore hoped  our audience would too.

Which Media Institution Would I Want To Distribute My Media Product?

A media institution, also known as a media conglomerate or media group,  is a business which owns multiple subsidiaries  within the media world such as BBC who own television stations and radio stations and others as shown below.

The main media institutions which would probably make my media product the greatest amount of money are called "The Big Six". They are a group of media conglomerates which have over 90% market share between them. They are: Comcast (NBC), Disney, News Corp (Fox), Time Warner (Warner Bros.), National Amusements (CBS) and Viacom (Paramount). In my opinion News Corp, or Fox, would be my preferred distributor because it has a 39% stake in Sky which would get the media product out to as many people as possible, also as a company Fox made over £13.8 billion in revenue which proves they would create the biggest profit for my product.

Delays in Production

During our filming we did come across a few problems. One of which being That the first time that we went out to film it turned out to be too dark! When we got into the woods at around 5pm we took out the camera in order to film our first scene. We were all exited at the prospect that the film was actually going to be made. Unfortunately the camera couldn't pick up any facial features due to the lack of light. Because of this we decided that we were going to film earlier in the day.

However we couldn't work out the angles in order to focus on objects so decided to just hold onto a camera on our head to give the same effect without having to workout the angles
